About MDC MDC was founded as a private practice in 1986 providing one-on-one consulting. Cathy Thesing took over as chief dietitian and director in November 2002. Since then MDC has grown into Melbourne’s largest private practice servicing individuals with one-on-one consulting as well as many hospitals, aged care facilities, government institutions, city councils and corporations. As the number of customers and the type of service requested have developed and changed, our services, staff numbers and expertise have developed into clear service groups. Clinical services provided to hospitals and aged care facilities embrace individual care of the patient/resident as well as educational support for staff and family. It is a holistic approach that provides our customers with a complete service. Menu reviews and food services are tailored to the needs of the customer and are individualised accordingly. Educational presentations are required for many customers. These are based on an identified need for nursing staff, food service staff, employees or even doctors. One-on-one individual consulting forms the backbone of our work. It is an enjoyable, professionally fulfilling role to assist our clients achieve their personalised goals. As Melbourne’s largest group of private practice dietitians we are proudly full time private practitioners, offering a wider variety of skills and expertise and geographic access and availability. All of our dietitians are Accredited Practising Dietitians (APD) and members of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA). MDC and each dietitian have professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Many are DVA and HIC registered, allowing both veterans and people involved in an Enhanced Primary Care plan to be seen.
